It wasn't hard to know of his approach. The closer he got, the more an old fear gripped her heart and the more she wanted to run all the way back to Yosemite and hide. It took a will she didn't know she had to keep her seated. That and an old lesson. If you run, you are prey. She was a hunter, one she hoped could one day equal her Goddess. It was one day she could forgive him for what he'd tried to do. But the past was the past. Everything was new.
She could see him and straightened. The only thing in her mind was a simple phrase. Don't run. Everything else, including facing Artemis, could be handled later. She closed her eyes, taking a few long breaths and only opening them when he spoke. "Lord Apollo."
She couldn't hide the fear in her voice, but she had sworn he could earn that. She bowed her head, and remembered who she was. "Thank you for meeting me. There is much I would like to ask, and more I would like to say." She looked to him, feeling brave enough to do so, and smiled.
