And the days are drifting into seasons; they're the hardest I have ever known
Who: Humility (humilitas) [Narrative]
What: On a mountain, breathing.
Where: A mountain
When: Thursday
Warnings: None
As strange as it might have seemed, the Virtues did not make a habit of being together all the time. They were solitary creatures, each one very focused on their purpose and duty, and, as far as Humility was concerned, better off when they didn’t see each other too often. Because being together with the other six and actually seeing the state they were in made it difficult for him to pretend that he was doing fine.
Yes, he was glad that nobody had taken him up on his offer.
The idea of going mountain climbing had come to him when he cleaned out Mrs Rosenbaum’s apartment. It had been a while since he’d seen vast expanses of nature and now was a good time to remedy it. The cabin up there catered to very basic needs, which was more than enough for him.
Now, standing knee-deep in snow, he inhaled the chilly air and kept his gaze on the gigantic rock formations surrounding him. Facing the sublime allowed him for a bitter-sweet moment to believe – truly believe – in the divine.
He wanted to capture the moment and lock it up but it didn’t work that way. As soon as he returned to his daily life, this sense of peace would fade into nothingness.
