He didn't say anything in response. By her own actions, Karl had a feeling that she finally understood what he had came up here for.
It was enough for him, as someone that was trying to get something that his kind should never be entangled with. It was enough that he had finally been able to say what had been trapped in his mind and the iron cavity of his chest since Texas. And that he could break that distance between them even for that one minute of the new year.
It was enough for now. The rest was hers to decide, and he wasn't the type of god that forced anything on anyone unless they were standing on opposite sides of the battlefield.
He leaned forward and gave her a chaste kiss on the side of her face.

She might have more words for him, she might have finally understood more than he could hope. But he didn't want his own expectations to take the fall again. So he stepped away and started to blend in with the crowd towards Grand Central Station.
