Karl exhaled through his mouth as he opened his eyes, getting a full-on glare of the ceiling light of the hospital hallway. While others needed to squint, Karl stared full-on, not affected by it and felt assured by his not-human reaction. The light itself filtered through his green irises harmlessly.
The need for reassurance came when Karl had assessed the situation that had happened a half an hour earlier, when he had carried Alyssa back into her room and ended things roughly and on a sour note.
Too much emotions - not what he would usually do or even show at that kind of situation.
His fists tightened as he made the decision to stand up and finally re-enter the room, almost preparing for the worst even if his face was carefully devoid of emotion.
But the sight of Alyssa in the hospital bed with wires coming out from under her skin and her hospital gown did nothing to suppress that slow burn of emotion among the many others that had accumulated in the mission prior.
Wordlessly, he brought a chair up close to the bed and sat down in it. He had nothing to say at the present, but at least she wouldn't get it into her mind that he had left again and the coast was clear.
