The nurses continued to squawk without avail as Karl gritted his teeth at his partner's rebuttal to this. He should've known better than to try to reason with her, especially when she wasn't exactly in the right state of mind to reason with, but he just wasn't going to let go of this.
Not when she got it in her head that he just could not bring her back if she continued to get reckless.
"It's how I found you, if you were wondering," he shot back without thinking, his body rigid and unmoving. "It's how I ever find you, always right before you do yourself in. Why's this time any different, Higurashi?"
It wasn't a question to be answered nor did Karl wait around to hear an answer. With that, he turned away from the bed to allow the nurses to flood Alyssa with their attentions, themselves throwing glares at Karl for holding them off for so long. He didn't even have to wait for them to curtly ask him to wait outside as he stalked out himself, but not so far away from the doorway.
There will be no more escapes tonight, and Karl was making damn well sure of it by staying for sure.
