Briseis didn't need any encouragement to drink the wine. It was more likely she needed to encouragement to not drink it all down right away, and it took conscious thought to actually not drain the glass and enjoy it instead.
"I've been here a month now," she told him after working it out in her head. "Before that it was Montana for four years, working as a nature photographer. And before that it was... everywhere, really." She smiled at him. "I've spent a lot of my time here moving around." Partly because she craved the new experiences and partly because her apparent age made it difficult to stay in one place for too long. "I never really planned to live in New York. It's too huge and crowded. I like the small towns where people know each other."
"And you, Achilles?" she asked him, eyes on his as she held her wine glass again. "Have you been here for long?"
