At his name, Karl looked up from his drink, having been watching his cellphone in the palm of his hand for any unusual activity since dessert. He could've sworn it had vibrated three times when someone had casually mused outloud about where the others would be right now.
"It was six," he confirmed, not exactly looking at anyone about this, since he wasn't proud of it, himself. Unknowingly to anyone else, this was the main reason why Karl took the stairs now rather than the elevator if he could help it.
"Didn't know it was an empty elevator shaft," Karl continued to mumble, taking a rather long swig out of his beer, wondering if Julius had something stronger than this in the back.
