"Putting up with the fanfare's part of the job description. It was worse in Mt. Olympus itself." There were people everywhere and there was constant chaos - half of them were never around and it was always looking for Ares or cleaning up after Dionysus or whatever; there was just always something to do and they never stopped - stopped to enjoy their lives until it was too late.
Even so, Poseidon had many fond memories of when the Greeks and later on the Romans were at their peak. Every pantheon - every family - had their share of quarrels and disputes and in-fighting, but they also had fun times, good times, prosperous times, time for peace and peacemaking, time for love and lovemaking - it was their world, and nothing else could ever quite be the same.
"Happy's a difficult word to use. I'm content, yes."
