She valued honesty, even if it cut at her. She'd rather know where she stood then be left in the dark about things. She left the subject alone, not wanting to hurt him anymore then she already did.
When he spoke she looked to him, "Yes but that's the trick isn't it? Enjoying life. I know I'm able because you do what you have to do. I always think about you, or your men. What my cause forces you to do, how they twist my purpose for greed." She sighed and glanced down to her fingers, "life is very hard to enjoy when you know the liberty I give comes at a price I've never been willing to pay.
