Living as Harriet Harden, Mark Harden's half-sister, was easier this time around than it had been before. She had all the proper identification, cash, and ATM cards in her name, and clothes, finally. The only problem she had now was remembering to answer to the name Harriet. It wasn't a problem she'd ever seen Glibt have when going by Maggie, but Mark supposed Glibt was just far more used to switching genders than she was. It probably didn't help that in her mind she still thought of herself as Mark too. It only made things that much more confusing.
In some ways it helped, though, still thinking of herself as the person she was normally. She had responsibilities to take care of, some of which she almost seemed more willing to take care of when she was in this form than her other. She felt a sense of almost calm as she exited the subway at the Columbia stop in Harlem. She was nervous, yes, but she wasn't thinking of excuses, reasons to turn around and abandon the visit. The same excuses that she'd been using for the past few weeks, in fact. 'I can't see you because I'm working on the show', '…because I'm working on health care', '…because I'm working from DC this weekend', '…because I'm spending time with your brother'. The last one probably hurt the most, not that she would have known. She'd never bothered to ask Thomas how he felt about it.
Mark sighed as she approached the campus, heading towards the building her son would be coming out of soon. Now, even. She watched as a stream of college students started pouring out of the doors, perking up and waving only after she saw Thomas' brown hair. She waggled her fingers nervously in the air a few times before starting hesitantly towards him.
