Jamie was seated at his desk, eyes fixated on the screen where surveillance footage of Times Square was playing. His missing unit remained missing. The apartment had been empty and none of its neighbours had seen hide nor hair of it. Since it had gone offline, it was safe to assume that it was no longer a living breathing thing.
Which was a pity, really. Dead units were much harder to locate because he couldn't tap into the minds of corpses.
