"...Huh." That was probably supposed to make sense. But. Actually talking with a living breathing person about something that she only knew through conversing with demons and angels and -- gods -- which caused the gears in her brain to clang to a halt.
Dev had the faint impression that she should be sitting down. But she couldn't bring herself to go and sit next to Sato. And she didn't feel like she had to sit on the ground. Still, the world was starting to go a bit grey at the edges as Dev felt her perceptions once again realign.
This was real.
Dev swallowed and shifted her gaze to meet Sato's, unconsciously widening her stance. "OK. Well. All immortals are scary, at one point or another. That's not something that would stop me from being friends with Alex, I don't care how strong his dad is. I don't report to him. Thank you for telling me."
She felt like she was missing something. Something important. But all she really wanted to do was go wander away until the fog around her brain cleared and she could breathe without feeling like something steel was squeezing her lungs again.
