Cute, Sato thought. Very, very cute. But the girl was about fifty lifetimes too early to pull off the act against this audience.
"Yes, and legal guardian besides." She smiled brightly. "Though the details are a bit--well. Complicated. For one thing, I've only met the boy himself recently." Technically true, at least in terms of the "boy" part. "I didn't even know he was in America until--well. It's all rather confusing, I'll confess." Another fluttery gesture, hands like nervous butterflies. "I mean, he just shows up, that is, I just found him--found him, can you believe it--and then in such a state."
Sato looked at Dev with that same wide-eyed concern. "It's all been rather upsetting. Seeing him so out of sorts--I can't even begin to imagine if you hadn't found him as you did." She paused, visibly halting between courtesy and curiosity. "Though, if you don't terribly mind, do you think you could explain how you found him? I'm afraid Alex has been rather...confusing on the subject." Sato's doll-pale brow wrinkled delicately. "He seems to think he was without pants."
