Triton didn’t say it, but as he listened to his father, he couldn’t help but be glad he’d been of use. If anyone else had been more useful than him, he would have felt as though he’d failed Poseidon. It didn’t matter that he hadn’t known his father was here. He still would have felt as though he hadn’t done enough as a son.
He wanted to do more, but at least he’d done something. And if it had to be someone else who had alerted him to his father’s whereabouts, well….he didn’t mind that it was Ares. “Ares’ sort of thing…..yes. I guess I can imagine. I’d rather have him around and not now what he’s doing than have….Uncle Zeus here. I’ve always had a tendency to prefer those with just his genes.” This was putting it mildly, but Triton didn’t feel any need to get into that any more. “I can’t blame you for being out here and not telling anyone.”
