For a moment, he felt like a little boy, one confused but reassured by his father’s hug. As much as a part of him actually wanted to cling to that feeling, wanted to believe that his father was always right and everything was going to be just fine, he couldn’t. He hadn’t been a little boy for a long, long time. Still, nothing kept him from reciprocating the hold a little fiercely.
Just hearing his name after that blank look……was better. A little better.
Then Poseidon let him go and invited him in. Triton almost picked up his dropped bag and did so, but instead he reached out and held on a bit longer before being the one to let go. “It’s good to see you too, Father. I wish I’d gotten here sooner. I’m sorry.”
