He smiled, "There are three of us," he replied, "and it's entirely possible we are the last three left, sadly." He thought for a moment of his children, his boy, and it hurt to remember because it hurt to miss them - but now wasn't the time to think of them. He'd pushed such thoughts out of his mind for long enough that they didn't need to be reappearing now.
"I assume you have this all planned out and all I need to do is get you up there, cause a distraction and lend a hand?" he asked, glancing around before sliding a hand through shaggy hair. "I don't need to know details, just directions. I have enough of an instinct towards what you're doing that any curiosity that may have plagued me is sated."
He was the kind of man to get right down to business, true. But he also knew the window of opportunity that they had and it was just wide enough for them to accomplish this without panic.
