It was amusing that Morpheus only really started taking notice of the other gods since they’d split apart from their home. Of course, when all were where they should have been, he’d had many more worlds to look over, and if he’d really wanted to, the dream of a god was close at hand and easy enough to watch or change. They weren’t a particular challenge.
Since being forced to wake up now and then, however, he learned more of what went on around him, more things bothered him. It was these things that had led him to keep an eye on the dreams of certain gods…..though Phobos had earned that distinction on his own, with a gift. The dreams of Night and Darkness, of their children, of Orpheus, of Athena……and the dreams of Phobos.
That Phobos had invited him to visit was intriguing enough, but the idea of something new to be seen….what was meant by that, Morpheus wanted to know. His offers of dreams had been declined before, so something must have changed. It was most curious, and Morpheus was not in the habit of not knowing.
It was a pleasant clearing he found himself standing at the edge of, and in the sun, he could make out figures. That Phobos knew he was dreaming Morpheus did not have to even wonder, and so those other figures were there not by accident.
He started off walking quite slowly into the clearing, making certain his presence was felt, but without realizing it, he soon began to move faster. He would take a close look at Phobos and……well, Phobos……but for the moment, it was the large feline that had his attention. Ignoring the struggling body underneath it, Morpheus knelt in front of the tiger and ran his hands along the sides of its face, smiling.
“What a surprise, Phobos. This may not be your trick but it is a welcome sight indeed. I have missed him.” Morpheus ran his fingers through fur warmed by sunlight and body heat and shifted his gaze to the blond. “I see it is not the only interesting thing, though. For the sake of my curiosity, I do hope you are in the mood to explain.”
