Who: Twee and Apollo
What: Twee is cute and Apollo is a creeper
When: Thursday night
Where: Tipitina's in New Orleans
Warnings: TBD

The venue was dark, a pale blue glow over everything and bodies crowded together - moving and swaying and bopping to the upbeat sound of the band on stage. The mood of the room seemed high, and ever seemed to be of a similar consciousness; soaking in the music, letting it drive their movements. Most say that this was the best show they'd been to in a long time, and they would all agree that it was one that would be hard to forget. The reason why was standing at the back of the crowd, seemingly lost in her own little world.

In most places, Twee stood out. Here she could very nearly blend in with everyone else. Even in her bumblebee yellow-and-black sweater, hanging down to the knees of her rolled up, worn and torn bluejeans, rounded out with yellow and black tennis shoes, nails bright yellow to match, long hair sweeping around her face... She still looked just like almost everyone else in the room - in their awkward mismatched ways. But on close inspection one could tell there was something different, attention-grabbing. Maybe it was the way the shiny pink of her lips was just a little brighter, or the way every movement was perfectly in time with the music... Or maybe it was the way that, when she opened her eyes, they shone such an eerie shade of blue that it couldn't be natural; unless it was just the way the light hit her.

But there she was, the goddess of all of this, feeling the music and letting it radiate back out in the crowd again, completely innocent to the fact that she wasn't the only deity in there that night.

Walking into the venue after paying for admittance, Apollo was keenly aware of two things, first being that he definitely stood out in the crowd, and second was that he was not the only 'special' person here. Both thoughts amused him equally, although the first more than the second. Whoever the other in the room might be, he could feel they were not as old as he, which made him pause slightly as he found a wall to lean again.

Assuming a casual stance as he attempted to blend into the crowd, Apollo kept his eyes peeled for the other god in the room, blinking in surprise when he saw her. The girl couldn't be more than a mere child, dancing as though she owned the room. For a moment, he forgot about his true purpose in coming here tonight, to learn more about modern music, and simply watched her in her element. Returning to reality as a slow smirk spread across his face, Apollo headed over to the bar and got himself a drink, attempting once again to focus on the band playing though his eyes kept getting drawn back to the girl.

Sipping from his drink, he walked around the room as he surveyed the minor deity once again. She seemed to be drawing power from the crowd, whereas music itself helped to fuel his glow. This, he believed, could be quite the night.

Twee could feel the presence drawing nearer to her, but she didn't bother turning around to look. She was more interested in the music and the crowd at the moment than she was curious about who kept pacing circles around her. She didn't mind if other deities came to draw power from her shows because sharing was nice. More people should learn how to share, in her opinion.

The song that had been playing faded into something a little more upbeat and the crowd responded - bopping more than they had been swaying before. One of the girls hands was up in the air, like she could catch the notes in her palm, and the other had come back to hold her hair away from her face.

And Apollo wasn't the only one who's attention had been drawn to her. The girl was flanked by two of her followers - a girl and a boy, both dressed in the same casual, oversized and almost ratty way that she was, with a healthy dose of cute. When her hand came down from the air it slid right into the girl's hand, other hand coming from her hair and lacing fingers with the boy. But there was nothing sexual about the touch - and maybe that was what stood out the most. It was more like how school children would hold hands on the playground during some silly game.

Then the song ended, a short pause as instruments were shifted around and Twee stole the moment to look over her shoulder, right at the Greek man, and her lips turned upwards into a small smile before her attention was pulled back to the crowd.

Apollo realized belatedly that his actions might seem slightly odd to the casual observer, but he didn't really care. Now that he had her in his sights he was content to simply watch and wait, knowing that she would eventually have to pass by him. Of course, there was also the fact that he was, quite frankly, one of the most eye-catching people in the room through no fault of his own. You could even say he was radiant.

He found himself bobbing his head to the music, finding it mostly enjoyable although still not certain if he actually liked it or if he was allowing the fervor of the crowd to carry him away. Either was likely.

The fact that all eyes were on Twee was something he found amusing, usually he was the one people were watching that he felt an immense sense of freedom. Oh, he was definitely getting looks from the mostly teenage and early 20's-aged crowd, but nowhere near as many as the little shining star dancing freely in the middle of the room. The almost pure way she interacted with those around her made him feel somewhat odd for watching, but then he saw her glance over her shoulder.

The small smile was quickly returned as Apollo raised his glass to her, clearly intrigued but making no move to join her or meld with the crowd just yet.

It was almost as though Apollo was forgotten by the time she turned back around, going right back to what she had been doing before she turned to see who was watching her. But she could still feel him there, like someone had turned the sound up one more notch in her head and made everything feel a bit clearer. It was definitely enjoyable.

But the set did end eventually. The first band stepped off the stage to a cheering crowd and Twee slipped away from her followers as they set up for the second band - a good twenty minutes to kill between the two. For a moment, she disappeared into the crowd, making her way through the bodies that had started to fan out - getting drinks and making their way to bathrooms and merch tables.

Twee, however, made her way in a roundabout manner to the outside of the crowd and around the edge of the room, peering between and around people who were almost all taller than her until she saw him step away from where he'd been standing. It was then that the sneaky, fae aspect of her personality slipped out and she hurried over to him, coming up behind him and tapping him on the shoulder.

With her hands clasped behind her back and the corner of her lip between her teeth she waited for him to turn around, staring up at him when he did with a bright smile. "Watcha doin, mister?" she asked, wiggling a little where she stood and looking positively mischievous.

The brief glance at Twee was quickly put out of his mind as the Greek turned his attentions back to the drink in front of him. Belatedly, he noticed a rather cheaply dressed woman vying for his attention, and offered her a slight smile as he finished off his drink.

Still keeping a watch on the girl-goddess, Apollo was surprised when she slipped off into the crowd. He made no move to follow her, using his superior height to try and track the way the crowd was parting for her. He had no interest in the merchandise, having staked his claim by the bar for the duration of the evening.

Apollo got himself another drink, still feeling her presence nearby so overall unconcerned with the situation. He took a few steps away from the bar, both to get away from a rather clingy, possibly inebriated mortal woman, and to stretch his legs, which was when he felt the girl's presence growing a lot closer. He was pleased that she was definitely nearby, and idly wondered where the little minx might be.

Turning around, he glanced down into the wide-eyed stare of a rather amused looking girl. Smirking, he took a sip of his drink as he heard her query, gesturing in her direction with the beverage when he finished. "Looking for you, enjoying the show. And you, little one?" he debated crouching down to look her in the eyes, but chose not to.

He was so tall. It wasn't until he turned around that she really noticed just how imposing his stature was. But Twee wasn't easily nervous or intimidated. She slid up onto one of the stools at the bar to give her a bit more height and smiled back at him. "Wondering why some old man is standing around looking all out of place at one of my shows," she said with a bit of a teasing tone to her voice. Most of the gods were old to her - even the new ones.

She turned her head a little as a bartender came back over, spotted the brightly colored bracelet around her wrist indicating that she was under the drinking age (like almost half of the people in there) and smiled up at her. Twee just asked for a bottle of water, fished some money out of her pocket and slid it across to him, turning back to Apollo as soon as she'd finished the exchange.

It was a bit difficult for her to converse with older people, mostly because she'd just had no experience doing it. With those around her apparent age, it was easy, because they sat around and discussed music and books and clothes and boys... But this was a bit awkward for her and it was almost apparent by how tongue-tied she seemed, looking up at the older man. "So are you enjoying the music?" she asked, because that was all she could think of to say. Well, that and, "Or are you just here to watch?" she added with a cute quirk of an eyebrow.

She was so tiny, like a little teacup Godling. It was adorable, really. Still, as she so succintly put it, this was one of her shows and Apollo knew how to show some respect. "Ah, this music is yours, sweet Godling?" He smiled, nodding slightly. "I have an appreciation for music in all forms, and wanted to acquaint myself with the modern sounds." He spoke with a serious tone, though clearly pleased with himself. It wasn't often that one found themselves face to face with a genre.

He watched as she got some water from the bar, observing how cheery she seemed. It was rather obvious that she was riding high on the power of the show, and it was only partway through the event so he was sure that before the night was through the goddess would probably be glowing incandescent. He took a sip of his adult beverage, keeping his smile in place a he kept an eye on both her and those around them. He was actually surprised that nobody was bothering them while they held their conversation. Still, now that she was on a chair closer to his size he felt less creepy.

He laughed at her questions, finding her attention somewhat charming. Truly, he did feel older in comparison, but it had been a while since the Greek had enjoyed his day in the sun although being a god of music was making it a little less weird. He honestly felt that one of the only real ways he could become relevant again would be to learn all about the modern things mortals found important these days, difficult as that may be. "The music is certainly interesting, not like anything I've ever heard before, really." He shrugged, taking another glance around the room before turning his attentions back to the girl before him. "Though I cn't deny that I'm also here to watch. Do you like being watched, little one?" He sat back, his smirk evident as he awaited her reaction.

Twee nodded, "It is. I think you'll enjoy the next band better. We try to do a little for the girls first and then a little for the boys second because boys are more patient than we are and we like going first," she pointed out. "But the second band is from Germany. They're really very good," she continued in a matter-of-fact tone. The German band didn't give her any power unless they were here, so it was nice to get a boost of something a little bit extra. And she loved her overseas bands. She'd been born in Scotland and traveled all over before being pulled to the US, and that was okay because she liked how diverse things were here, and how all of her family was here as well.

Maybe she didn't notice and maybe she didn't care about Apollo looking or seeming creepy to anyone. He was an older man chatting up a very young-looking girl at a bar, but it wasn't like they were touching in any inappropriate way. And most of the people around here were just used to and accepted things like this. Besides, the little goddess could handle herself with ease.

"I'm very proud of my music," she said. "My father taught me about sounds and my daddy taught me about words so I've strung the two together and made all of this. People get tired of always hearing about what's wrong, what's missing and what's making them sad. Music should make people feel good, not give them license to wallow around in misery. Only my daddy is allowed to do that. It's his job. But I like making people feel happy. It's a very difficult task sometimes. And I think that music has become too mean and angry. It can be soft and sweet as well, don't you think?"

She twist off the top of her water bottle and took a drink, turning towards the crowd momentarily before crossing her legs and looking back up at Apollo with a small smirk. "Of course I like being watched," she said. "What little girl doesn't like being the center of attention?"

Apollo nodded in return, "I didn't mind the first band, they seemed somewhat light. However, now that you've said such a thing I'll have high hopes for this second band." He grinned slightly, somewhat surprised that she was so willing to explain her music to him. "I have heard quite a few bands out of Germany, so it is true that they can be quite talented. However did you convince them to come play here?" He was aware of how difficult it could be to garner power from acts in other countries and was somewhat grudgingly impressed that she had gotten the band here.

As he relaxed, perhaps the fact that Twee was being so forthcoming and easy to discourse with putting him more at ease and masking the overall oddness of someone who looked like him simply hanging out at such an event. He was also making sure that to those observing there were no behaviors that could be construed as inappropriate. Besides, it wasn't as though two such deities spoke so easily this often.

"As well you should be, young one," he smiled openly. "It is as you say, music is a form of expression and while different people have differing tastes I feel your particular style is quite compelling. I do feel somewhat lighter, which is difficult when you consider my lineage. It seems like the type of music one should listen to on a rainy day to help remind them of the sun." He laughed, the sound reverberating between them. "Yes, quite soft and sweet."

Taking a sip of his drink, he followed her gaze as he let his mind wander before turning back to Twee. "You should be careful then," he warned softly. "There are those who might seek to dim your brightness."

She shook her head, "Oh no. I don't have much of a public face and I like it that way. I can enjoy the music more if people don't know who I am. No, I have to wait for international bands to tour here in American to see them and really enjoy them the way they were meant to be enjoyed." But because this was her scene and they were her genre, she could still draw power from them while they were here.

Twee smiled brightly at his description of her music, eyes glittering a bit. She felt a blush rise to her cheeks as well and turned her head away shyly to try to hide it behind the fall of her hair. That probably ruined just a little bit of their attempt to make everything look completely normal. "It can remind you of the rain, too..." she answered, tucking her hair behind her ears. "But you're right, I'd rather the sun." She hadn't quite caught on to who he was, yet. Just that he was old and that music was alive around him.

She took his advice and tucked it securely away with a nod and a smile. "I know," she said. "I've met a few of them already. But I can handle myself well enough. And you don't seem to me like one of them at all." She extended her hand to him to properly introduce herself. "I'm Twee," she said - which was, out of all her names, her favorite. "But mostly I just go by Twila."

He considered her words, rubbing his chin. "You prefer people not being able to connect you to your music? That's interesting, I would think one who enjoys attention would want everyone to know who they are. Still, it's nice to know that you'd rather not overshadow the music the way some others seem to." He wouldn't name any names, but there were definitely certain genres defined by a person instead of a scene or an ideal.

Apollo noticed the look in her eyes, as well as the blush on her cheeks. It was sweet, the way she attempted to hide such things, though he was sure that they were attracting quite a few stares. He didn't mind, though he wasn't sure if she would. "It can remind you of most any happy moment, like running through the rain with someone you care for," he observed, shrugging. "The sun has a way of bathing everything in it's glow, making even the most plain of things seem radiant." He wondered if she would even care if she knew who he was, if it would change anything. He doubted it would.

He was pleased by how innocent and untouched she seemed, compared to other music gods he had seen out and about. "I'm glad to hear that you know how to handle yourself, and that you don't think I'm one of those types." He took her hand in his own, giving a light but firm shake. "It's nice to meet you Twila, or can I call you Twee?" He lowered his voice as he introduced himself. "I'm Apollo, but those outside our world call me Delian."

If there was one thing that Twee knew about music it was what she had learned from her father and that was the fact that the most honest music is rarely ever popular. But it's good. And that was what she liked and what she was proud of her scene for. They were honest and they were good. Sometimes someone hit commercial success and she was always happy about that - but having a large amount of power never really mattered to her. She was happy knowing that shows like this happened and people enjoyed her music and it could make them feel good. Fame wasn't necessary when you could inspire from the sidelines.

She let his question pass with a shrug and a smile, not at all minding the few looks that people were getting. It wasn't really odd for girls like her to talk to men like him - at least not around here. But Apollo drew attention to himself in a way that the older men who hung around this scene tended not to. Not that there was anything creepy going on there and Twee certainly didn't feel uncomfortable with his presence. It was quite the opposite, actually.

Her eyes did go a bit wide, though, when he introduced himself and she bit her lip, pink blush darkening a bit more. It all made sense now - the way he made the music inside her feel even more alive than it usually did, and she felt a bit embarrassed regarding her previous comment about the sun. "You can call me Twee if I can call you Apollo," she answered, looking up at him. She was all bashful and flustered now.
