Who: Sato and Alexander What: Meeting again When: Tuesday afternoon Where: Whole Foods produce isle
The inside of the large store reminded Alexander a bit of one of the bustling marketplaces back home, but considering that he couldn't exactly place where home was, he was having a difficult time drawing direct contrasts between then and now. He knew that the markets back home had been outside, but the produce section of the store was very well-lit, so it gave the appearance of being outside, without the breeze. It was warm outside, sunny, and Alexander had been told at least four times by the nuns that were watching over him that, no, he couldn't take off his clothes and, no, he couldn't make his own because some people might find his jury-rigged robes and head scarf offensive. It was a strange world. The nuns had given him some money to go out and buy himself lunch, but when he had gone to the sandwich shop around the block from the church, the nice girl at the counter gave him a sandwich for free, along with a piece of paper with some numbers on it. Well, he didn't need the numbers, so he threw that out, but the sandwich was good and he had the money left over, so he decided to buy the nuns, Sister Emily and Sister Marianne, some apples.
But which apples to buy? There were so many! Alexander was, frankly, utterly confused by the large selection, so he stood with a rather blank look, his eyes occasionally flickering to each bin while voices rang through the air in a language he had only just begun to understand.
