Who: Alyssa Higurashi, Alex Nivens When: Friday morning, 9/11 Where: Karl & Alyssa's office in the DIA What: Trying to dissuade obsessive use of the vending machines, the sister meets the partner
It was probably a wasted effort, but if the repeated tries yielded no results on their own, guilt went a long, long way. As did Alex's knowledge of how things were wired, both figuratively and literally, and the fact that she was not above breaking into her brother's obsession and doing a little switch-out of it's offerings.
In fact, she might actually do that regardless. It wouldn't hurt her little brother, and the resulting reaction would no doubt be amusing. Fruit rather than Fritos? Yes. That was definitely going to have to be a later experiment.
But here she was again, dropping off another offering for Karl to find whenever he should wander into work. So lost she was in thinking of the proper way to crack into the vending machine, she didn't immediately pick up on the other presence in the office, the distinctive lack of that immortal 'hum' not really registering as someone who would immediately merit her attention. Only pausing briefly in her stride once the other person caught the corner of her eye did Alex emerge from her thoughts, cocking her head to the side as she looked the painfully obvious mortal girl over.
"You must be my brother's partner. He's spoken of you."
