"Be realistic, Pride. I've never pandered to you and you know full well that getting in your good favors is hardly my priority." It was as close as Envy would come to conceding, to admitting that he saw the logic in another's argument. He was bitter to his core, though, and to come right out and say it... Absolutely not.
Instead he watched the elder Sin stand. There was a moment where Envy peered up at him, but he did not follow suit. He kept to his seat and leaned back. "We are all of us in a precarious position just now. If holding back means our livelihood could benefit..." He shrugged, a bare lifting of his shoulders. "So be it. Self-control isn't impossible. Just undesirable."
And this, all this was why Envy so loathed staying in close communication with the other Sins. With Sins came Hell, with Hell came complications, and those complications inevitably meant that someone would walk away dissatisfied. Perhaps it was true that he would never really be happy, but to fall so prey to his own influence that even temporary satisfaction fell to the wayside...
It was maddening. Moreso because Envy knew full well he would never be able to stay away from the others.
