Envy had kept himself busy since the Sins achieved their freedom. There had been the heathen goddess Hollywood, all sorts of interesting play thanks to Lust, a brief moment wherein Greed grabbed his attention, and dealings thanks to his favorite plot device, Divorce. All that without even touching on his day job.
So yes, Envy had been very busy indeed. Still, his tunnel vision aside, he was fond of the mortal world and had no desire to neglect it; the entertainment industry was too rife with opportunity. He decided to spend a few days in the office even as he awaited word from Pride. The eldest Sin was many things, but when Pride said he would be in touch, inevitably you would hear from him.
It was with no surprise, then, that Envy studied his brother as Pride strode into the room and claimed a seat as if it were his God-given throne. "I had considered stalking some young thing through dark alleys, but it's too damn bright outside and I've better things to do besides." Sarcasm. Envy's first line of defense when it came to family.
Head canted to one side, he sat back and considered the request. What did he think of Heaven and Hell's current news? Hell's throne remained empty, and its Kings and Princes were unusually quiet. Even the Queens had little to say, and they enjoyed the sound of their own voices as much as Heaven enjoyed a good wholesome romp through church. Greed had yet to settle in a direction. Asmodeus and now Mammon had surfaced topside. All that, and it barely seemed to scratch the surface.
Staring blindly at the headshots of potential stars spread out across his desk, Envy suppressed a shudder. He had an idea of what might happen soon, should Satan not return to put his boot down on Hell's throat.
"I think that there is a tension in the air," he said with a smile he did not feel. "We made our break none too soon; this place is being besieged by royalty, and they will want heads to roll. Better some stooge's than a Sin's." Pausing, Envy couldn't help a wry snort. "A smart Sin's, at any rate."
