Gwen laughed softly at his words and again had to look down at her present wardrobe with a fidget of her apron. "Hardly a 'majesty' anymore, my friend. Naught but a common servant now, I fear."
She held onto his hand, giving it a warm, amiable squeeze. The smile on her face was practically glowing at the sight of him. True, the last time they'd seen each other had not been on the best of terms - but she'd never held that against him. Arthur had set his knights to guard her as she was led away to be executed that day. Even now she couldn't help but wonder at what sort of a game he'd been playing at. The King knew Lancelot would be coming for her...he'd whispered as much to her just before she'd parted from his sight for the last time. Why had he sent his bravest and most trusted knights forward on a suicide mission, knowing that it couldn't end well? Had it all been for show? Had he somehow known that it would not be the last of his valiant and loyal warriors?
She pursed her lips together. There he was again. Cropping up into her thoughts. Even still, she could see those dark eyes of his...broken and wounded as she fell on her knees before him and begged his forgiveness. Unmoving. Strong. Just. The King he had to be.
"Are you newly come to New York?" she pressed Gareth with a small tilt of her head. "I have a place that I can offer you if you're in need of it. It's not much...but it would do for a brief time."
