Who: Mark and Glibt
What: Running away from the East Coast
When: Wednesday evening
Where: Seattle, Washington
Warnings: Nope.
There were people looking at them, and Mark guessed it was too much to think that just in leaving New York they would avoid all public scrutiny. Though, maybe scrutiny was too harsh of a word. It wasn't as if people were throwing eggs at them and yelling slurs. Mostly they were minding their own business and only occasionally peeking over to look and whisper. Seattle was just as connected to the world was New York was and he was just as recognizable. Keeping his head down wasn't going to actually do anything aside from make him look far more suspicious. Every so often he would hear the click of a cell phone camera, but he was ignoring them. It was easier when he just focused on Glibt.
They'd been eating dinner out on the second night of their getaway and Mark was already reaching for the check, at the same time laughing at something Glibt had just said.
"I think this is the closest I've ever felt to being a parent," he commented idly as he looked down at the bill. "We're away and I'm worried about the teenagers in our house. Maybe I'm getting old."
Mark started pulling bills out of his wallet and placing them on the table. They'd been in the restaurant for some time now, so it wasn't as if they were rushing out. There was a park a few blocks down though, and he was hoping that maybe they could head there and go be somewhere where they could talk without the world looking on. There was a reason they'd come to West Coast after all and Mark could have easily chickened out since Glibt didn't actually know what was coming, but he wasn't going to. Not this time. "You want to head out?"
