He'd been an awful little punk when they were kids. Stan hadn't thought much of it at the time; they were young, they lived with a carnival, and the opportunity for up-to-no-good fun was always around the corner. Corvina, as he recalled, had been a big-eyed scrap of a girl. He'd liked her on first sight, and by the unwritten law of children and little boys everywhere, that meant it was his solemn duty to torture her in every way imaginable.
Really, Stan was more than a little shocked that she hadn't killed him for all of it at the time. Especially after the Penguin Boy stunt.
Twenty years later, he was walking down a hallway to the apartment number she'd given him and wondering if now was when she would extract her revenge. Considering who her father was, the idea wouldn't shock him. The thought of tiny, wary, doe-eyed Corvina taking a knife to his throat was just so laughable that Stan couldn't help but grin.
And if she did? Hell, he deserved it. If God was smiling down on him -- and Archie did do that rather a lot -- she wouldn't have grown up to be an Amazon.
"I'm a fast runner," he muttered to himself right before knocking.
