Persephone sighed and returned her gaze out to the water, watching the people stumble along the boardwalk. Young lovers that held each other close for comfort, friends that sent their laughter echoing through the night, people that wanted to stare out at the stars to feel connected to someone that was far away... and yet there were the two of them, able to say what they could, but not able to do anything about it. However, for Persephone the solution wasn't to push away.
She finished her water, and then wiped at her eyes that had begun to mist up with tears. No, it wouldn't be good to let him see her cry. She felt horrible for having put him through that, and maybe, just maybe she should leave him be.
She still didn't want to. But that was part of her curse. She was the wife of Hades, and that condemned her to a life of near solitude, even when she was not in the Underworld.
She sniffled, and made her way inside past him, putting the glass down on the table beside her bed, "You should, too. I just- We-" But the thought was never finished as Persephone turned the lights off.
