Dev 'Epped!' and automatically brought a hand behind his neck to balance her when he pulled her up into his arms. She drew in a breath to scold him, "What do -" but the laws of sickness were against her, and as soon as all that fresh air hit her lungs she got taken by another coughing bit.
Dev fisted her hand over her mouth in reflex, too taken by the coughing to even struggle, and it was only halfway through that it occured to her she should be coughing in his face. It would serve him right. But there was some small, very, very small part of here that missed being taken care of - and that was the part that kept her coughing in her hand until they reached the small bedroom in the sublet apartment.
She hadn't done much to change it from the boy she was renting it from - there was a sunflower in a vase, her acoustic guitar in its stand in the corner, the Fusion safely tucked a way in its case, and her rather large collection of plushies and stuffed animals on the bed.
"Put me down!" she demanded, when she could breathe.
