Dev was playing with the spoon in the soup, stirring it around. It felt just like the hard, flat cold surface of any spoon in any cafeteria... she could hardly believe he'd pulled it out of thing air. Best not to think about it.
Then he was talking to her. Why was he talking to her? She wasn't sure anything she'd say back would make sense, and her throat hurt. She shifted on the stool to see him a little better as she tried to answer. "Parts of it," she said. "The school part's not so bad."
Dev took her first sip of the soup as she tried to sort out her thoughts - only to have them all scatter at the first taste. She blinked up at College. "This is really good." She dipped her spoon in it again -- it felt so good going down her throat, almost like she was breathing better already. "Where did you get it?"
