Virginia had had a good day. The kids had been a bit rowdy, but they were kids, and that was expected. She'd enjoyed it anyway, helping them make crafts, and then taking a group of them out to the park for a picnic lunch. She'd watched them as they ran around and had smiled. Some people hated kids, but there really was no reason to. They were just kids. That was how they acted.
She was thinking all this as she walked down the street. She was considering going back to her apartment, but the day was still young, she figured. Maybe she'd go out to eat something, celebrate the fact that she had a steady source of income, at least for the summer. She really needed to thank Cator for that.
This was the point where she ran into a dark-looking man walking down the street in the other direction. She really needed to pay more attention.
