One of the first things he'd learned was to never bet with Allegra. Ever. It had taken Hephaestus a few tries to get that one down, and his insurance company still wouldn't let him forget it. "In a bad way?" he asked, equal parts caution and amusement.
He let her take the lead. Truth was, he was far more interested in just looking at her. It'd been much too long between visits, a fact Hephaestus was painfully aware of. Studying Allegra was as much to enjoy her presence and reassure himself that she was actually there as it was to look for hints as to her health.
He'd heard directly from Elpis more than once since they'd appeared in New York. That alone worried him tremendously.
