The evening was perfect, the sunset so gorgeous that it brought tears to Asterion's eyes, and he watched it wrapped up in Orpheus' arms, smiling and stealing kisses during the moments when looking away from the spectacle before them didn't frighten him completely. It reminded him why he loved this land, really...though truth be told, reminders came often. From what he understood, many of the deities here disliked being grounded so far from home, but he embraced it. America had been good to him, and he wouldn't want to...didn't want to live anywhere else.
They fell asleep all wrapped together, and the beauty of the evening, the sounds of nature, the cool of the breeze all lulled him gently. Yes, the dark still crept into his dreams, but it was muted...far away.
Though, as he would soon discover, not as far as he assumed.
