I wanna do it till the sun comes up // Till we're both so good and sweaty we can't stand up //
Who: Allegra and OPEN (to anyone who can take a hit)
What: Bar fight!
Where: A bar (Brooklyn)
When: Thursday night.
WARNING: Violence, mocking, blond(s?) misbehaving.
"Why not shove off and mind your own business, sweetheart?"
...was not a very smart thing to say to some girls.
The hustler outweighed her by a good forty pounds had scarred knuckles. More than a head and a half taller, he looked down at the mouthy little blond that suddenly popped up by the pool table and wondered why the hell she was smiling like that. It was unnerving.
The voice in Allegra's head was similarly distressed. *Legra, no. You promised to be good tonight. You did, you promised!*
Elpis was right; she did. But good for whom--ah, that was a different matter entirely. Allegra's smile upped its wattage.
"See, here's the thing," she said, leaning one hip against the pool table. "You wanna be the big bad shark and bite one of the clueless college wonders? Go ahead. But you could've kept it light, made it fun. Instead you beat the kid stupid--and made him feel like imbecile in the process. Not cool, mister. Not. At. All." The smile turned nearly angelic. "Then I offer to substitute for the chap and you accept oh so sweetly--except now you're the one refusing to pay up. I mean, gosh, that's damn unfriendly."
The hustler was looking less friendly by the second. They were attracting attention--it was the kind of bar on that kind of night--and no con artist liked the spotlight.
"Listen," he tried to smile. "I don't want to be unfriendly. How about I buy you a drink, honey, and we call it even?"
That's two, she tallied. Out loud Allegra cheerfully said, "Piss off, tosser. Don't try the game if you can't afford the wager." She pushed away from the table, giving the man her back. But not before adding just one more squirt of napalm to the fire. "Pussy."
A hand, big and rough, settled on her shoulder. "What was that, sugar?"
That, Allegra grinned as Elpis sighed, was three.
*You'd promised,* the voice of Hope reminded one last time, but Allegra was already turning and locking her grip on his extended arm. Big mistake, that; bigger wasn't better if you didn't have balance. She pulled, stepping into the man's hold, bottom to hip, and let him roll.
Flipping someone straight over the back or high up was flashy, but useless. It gave the sucker a chance to recover and strained the back. But dropping them from hip height? Stunning.
Funny as all hell, too.
"You're out!" she chirped.
Then someone he lunged up at her stomach, someone else lunged at him, Allegra laughed, a bottle hit the ceiling, and the night really started.
