First, the pain in his ribs, and before that could even set in fully, there was more. Things were rapidly getting farther and farther out of his hands. Pain and light burst in his head, and it was a struggle to pull free and gain even a small amount of distance.
That things had gone this way was a reminder of how long it had been since Triton had fought, and it was a lesson in how even he should have not let so much time pass by without even practicing.
There was already blood running into his eyes, but Triton wiped it impatiently away and aimed a solid punch at the other man’s face. He could ignore his own pain for now, but the longer they dragged this out, the harder that would become, and probably the state he’d end up in would be worse.
