He considered her words thoughtfully, looked from the cards spread over the table to the girl herself. She could be right. There was no knowing what he missed out on. He certainly wasn’t going to dismiss the cards or the girl in front of him, not necessarily more so because she wasn’t just some mortal. She was more, and there was every chance she knew what she was doing. Some mortals did, as well, but they were few and far between. Happening upon this girl while on his forced excursion could be a most fortunate accident.
