"There we go," Annika says cheerily, picks up the muffin and steers him toward the door -- the place is standing room only, at this time of day.
"Sorry," she says, once they're out on the street, "that's probably more than you meant to spend, but I figured it would go over better." She burrows briefly in her bag, coming up with a small wad of single bills. "Here. You can keep the muffin too if you want, I'm about to go to lunch. You okay?"
