"I bounce," Allegra said with a grin. She could feel the bruises begin to settle in but it'd be while before anything started showing. Scratches stung, though.
*I'll heal it later,* Elpis' assured. *But, Legra, listen, he's really not human. And he's old.* She sounded worried.
Then again, Elpis tended to fret if the microwave beeped too loud or there was more than one type of sugar on the table. Her instincts were acute but not necessarily reliable. Allegra had long since adopted the method of waiting to actually see signs of danger before vexing.
"Allegra, pleasure to make your acquaintance." The grin brightened, eyebrows raised in unvoiced laughter. "Dents notwithstanding."
There was a reminding hiss from below. Sighing, she tried to pry the kitten off her chest. "Nine lives and not lick of sense, what does that tell you about selective evolution?"
