The past few days had been less than pleasant for Hippie. Most of her time had been spent between dropping acid only to get no results and then covering over the pain with smoke, toking constantly in an attempt to somehow bring back the colors. Everything around her seemed dull, lifeless without the swirling, sparking colors that she was used to. She could feel LSD, Lucy, getting further and further from her and yes, it hurt. It hurt like Altamont. But he deserved his freedom if he needed it and she would be there if and when he decided to return with 'Shrooms and Meth.
Waking late, she uncurled herself from the beat up mattress in the back of the van, threw on whatever was closest to her (a flowing purple and blue dress that looked faded enough to be from the old days) ran a hand through her hair and pushed a headband over it. She didn't bother with shoes as she climbed over the to the driver's seat, knowing she'd take them off as soon as she got to the park. Fuck shoes. She hated shoes. She felt Mary Jane on his way to the park and while the drive from the random parking lot she'd been parked in was short, he'd gotten there first.
She followed his presence into the park, smiling at the sunlight on her face. As she approached him from behind she hear him whistling. "Why can't we reach the sun? Why can't we blow the years away?" she sang, wrapping her arms around his neck. She felt that feeling that Mary Jane always gave her. He was a part of her, there was no way to separate her from him. He had changed over time, but so had she, though her changes were more subtle. He was still her King, her love, her friend.
