Who: Diligence, Guns
What: Dinner
Where: Gabriel's place, then a Thai restaurant of Guns' choosing
When: Tuesday evening
Rating: PG-13 (? Language possibly, discussions of violence)

Diligence was a very purposeful Virtue in that she made sure everything she did served a purpose. She had gotten what was considered to be a highly stressful job to help better understand working conditions for mortals in a high-paced world. She went to Church, volunteered, and attempted to maintain good relationships with other immortals because she believed it was what He would want her to do. She was dutiful, helpful, and generally pleasant even in the face of adversity simply because it made things easier. So why was she having dinner with Guns?

She could rationalize it at least five different ways, but it was mainly out of curiosity. He wanted to kill a Virtue, and she wanted to know why she should let him kill her. She hadn't expected him to invite her for dinner, but so be it. She would go, and hope he didn't mind discussing his motivations for wanting to kill a Virtue albeit temporarily. All things considered she was not expecting to be swayed to his way of thinking, but there was always a change.

Having given Guns directions to the apartment she shared with Gabriel she was now waiting for his arrival. Being the Virtue of time-management Diligence was ready to go, wearing a simple blue short-sleeved top and a swingy black shirt. She was unaware of where they would be going for dinner and dressed casually but nice just in case. The apartment was very simple, a two bedroom place located in one of the more cheaply priced areas of Manhattan, and she assumed Guns would ring the buzzer when he arrived.

Guns claims that everything he does serves a purpose, but the fact of the matter is that he does whatever he pleases, whether or not there's a reason for it. He does not understand why Diligence would ever accept a dinner offer, aside from narcissism and a craving for youth. He imagines she's grown weaker in this era, with all the laziness abounding, and perhaps she's just curious. He stops trying to understand.

For whatever categories Guns fails in, he can dress sharp, and it is dress casual tonight with a nice red polo shirt and black slacks. His shirt is tucked in and the trousers are belted, and he presents a clean-cut portrait of a handsome man about to go on a first date. The truly interesting bit is that he's brought flowers, and they are held behind his back at he rings the buzzer.

Less nicely, he is chomping on gum like a horse while he waits.

Professional curiosity, really, although it was more because Diligence couldn't think of any other way she could really probe Guns for more information about what could be so fascinating about possibly killing a Virtue. It's amusing to realize that even with all the laziness there are still plenty of entrepreneurs and steadfast business-types out there. Besides, the hospital she works at is a hub of activity.

Making her way to the door Diligence isn't exactly expecting anything from Guns by way of typical dating niceties. Honestly, she was perfectly aware that he was probably more versed in the ways of dating, but she had better things to do than indulge in fantasies of a romantic bent. Work came first, constantly. Opening the door, she smiled slightly.

"Hello, thank you for being prompt. I'm ready whenever you are."

Diligence is taking quite a risk, but she is correct in predicting that one-on-one time is the best way to get Guns to talk about what he thinks. Experience has informed him that discussing murder with a future victim is incredibly awkward, but he'll tell her if she wants to know. Parts of the world keep busy, but there are more ways to procrastinate than ever -- at least in America.

"I figured being late is one of your pet peeves." He smiles, and then sweeps the flowers out from behind his back. "You look nice." Guns has gone on plenty of dates, and killed plenty of people, sometimes in that order. Death can be romantic.

Taking risks is nothing new to Diligence, every person who had ever started their own business took risks every day, so she was aware they could end badly. Still, she wanted information, and she was aware that Guns might possibly react badly and shoot her, but she would be back even if he did. Procrastination could work well for him, but not if he wanted her actually agreeing to let him kill her.

"How astute of you. Do you have any pet peeves I should know of?" She grins, shock momentarily flashing across her face as she takes the flowers. "Why than you. Would you like to come in while I put these in water?" She's aware that Gabriel isn't home at the moment, but she's unafraid.

Oh, why not invite the wolf in through the door?

Diligence does seem to grasp just how she would die. It would not be a single, clean shot: it would be slow and careful, like dissecting a living animal. She was not merely taking risks anymore -- she was gambling, not knowing where the dice could fall. But yes, she would come back, if that was a comfort.

Guns' biggest pet peeve is people who refuse to scream as they die, but instead he says, "I hate slow drivers." Which is why he simply hops between spaces instead of riding in a car, or walking, like mortals would. "Certainly." And he follows her inside, and with Guns, 'unafraid' can be seriously interchangeable with 'stupid'.
