"I have been awful," he replied, voice flat. It was the truth, he'd been telling himself so for far too long and despite the fact that it should have been a motivating factor in bringing him back sooner it was what kept him away longer, in the end. But he'd missed her too and it had been almost painful for him to stay away so long.
"A house isn't a home without a big dog to guard his master and the ones he loves," Thor said, still not letting Jord free from the hug. "I'm sorry," he said, "I can't feel guilty about most of the other people I abandoned because they have always expected it of me. But you... I hate to think I've disappointed you. I'll make it up to you. Name it."
And then he pulled back just a little bit... "Well," he said, "I was going to call you... right before you destroyed my office. Though, I don't suppose you know it was my office. Which is why I'm crashing here and not with Sif - you earned my presence, Mother." He was teasing a little, of course.
