Who: Vicodin and Shrooms
What: Camping
Where: Under the Stars!
When: Friday night, Saturday
Warnings: TBA

The fire had burned out, but it hadn't burned the mold out of him and Tracer thought he understood, now. What had happened to them all. Why he was changing. Maybe it was as natural as the dirt underneath the Highway - he'd been pushing it down too much, and so it had grown up faster in protest. Maybe what he needed, really needed, was an outlet. The fire gave him that. Destruction and heat, and now he felt closer to something that the Universe hadn't give him a name for yet.

Maybe it was acceptance.

He left the Highway after meeting with Speed's date, and made sure that the camping things were packed in the car he was taking before he headed to his sister's to collect her. He hoped, truly hoped, her mortals didn't give him any problems. He still smelled smoke in the air, and he didn't want another excuse.

Eliza was dealing with getting Vi ready to go so Jamie was standing outside of the apartment acting as a look out. It was so dark - far too late to be heading out to a camp ground but the Brit was ready to just let it go. Violet needed time with her siblings. Needed time away from him and Eliza. Needed time away from whatever had pissed her off on the journals that she wouldn't let him read which meant it was 'family business'.

So when an unknown car pulled up that seemed to be loaded with camping supplies, he was carefully making his way over to the passenger side window, hands behind him (one cautiously resting on a hidden Hi-Powered Browning). "Excuse me," he said, hoping to be heard through the window, "Are you Tracer?"

Tracer didn't hear him through the window, the music inside was too loud, but he turned it off and killed the ignition before he opened the door and got out. Was this one his sister's mortals? He couldn't be sure. And he couldn't remember his sister's mortal name, either...

"I'm Tracer?" He finally said. "Is my sister here?"

James straightened up as Tracer killed the engine and got out of the car. For a moment, his hand tightened on the Browning but he relaxed when introductions were finally begun, "She's upstairs but she'll be down soon. Eliza's giving her a 'talking to'." The Brit sort of shrugged his shoulders and settled against the No Parking Between The Hours Of sign, crossing his arms in front of his stomach.

It seemed at that moment Violet came out of the building's front doors, completely wrapped up in her sleeping bag already and hopping like it was a very slow sack race. Just because it was fun. She was singing at the top of her lungs to drown out the words of Eliza who was looking like she was going to cry. "Did you notice how she danced with every guy but me? She loves to see me in misery. I used to be her little buttercup! But now she comes around just to break me up." The dancing sleeping bag lazily twirled across the sidewalk.

And Jamie palmed his face in embarrassment.

Tracer didn't look put out or embarrassed, though. Instead he smiled, and it felt like the first time he had smiled in weeks as he ignored the mortal and went to his sister instead. He didn't know the song, but he hummed loud and caught her - arms around as much of the bundle of sister and sleeping bag as he could hold.

"Sister, sister," He said in greeting, and kissed her hair, and then her forehead.

"Oof!" A noise of surprise as she blinked, realizing she was caught! Not Eliza... Ah, her brother! Brilliant. Eliza was scowling of course because she never seemed to smile and really, this wasn't a happy occasion for her but Vi? She was totally thrilled. And she basked in the affection like the child she really was. "Hallo! Prepared to take a caterpillar into nature? I can't promise I'll leave my cocoon though."

Off to the side, James was scooting Eliza back into the building. Goodbyes had already been said along with many promises.

Tracer eyed them almost warily for just a moment as they left. He wasn't much good around mortals this week who weren't his, but then they were starting inside and he could focus on his sister. He hadn't let her go yet, and he dropped another kiss against her hair and laughed, feeling easier than he had since long enough ago that he couldn't remember it. Faith would remember...

"Cocoons will trap the butterfly," he told her meaningfully, and he hugged her again before he leg go enough that they could move to the car.

That easy feeling was nice. He was a fine distraction from that blonde bimbo... Okay, and a careful combination of drugs had helped that too but there was no point in saying that out loud because they were all kind of like that. And who knew? She might have been putting out natural euphoria waves. Because surely it couldn't have just been Vi after all. That was mental sarcasm.

"Maybe so," she hopped along with him towards the car very carefully, "But a butterfly told me a secret once. Sometimes they get stage fright." Honestly, she had no clue what she was talking about but it sounded right and she was smiling about it.

"They always fly eventually," Tracer laughed though, as he said it, and he thought about flying and how everything felt like crashing, now. But he wasn't going to let that in to his sister - not when he'd promised a slow haze and the stars.

He held the door open for her, waiting for her to get in before he slid over the hood and let himself in, too, car roaring to a start.

"And sometimes into flames just like their uglier cousins," but she just shrugged it off and carefully settled into the car so she didn't fall over all crazy like. Or whack her head. Something like that. Vi carefully wiggled her arms out of the sleeping bag and closed the car door. Yay! They were officially going! Nothing would get in their way.

"You're so good at that hood thing," she said when Tracer got into the car, "I can never get up enough momentum... And I don't own a car." Which was entirely beside the point but honestly, who needed a car in New York City? Public transportation was totally the way to go. It got her closer to the pain anyhow.

"Am I?" He wasn't sure why he'd done it, really, excpt that it was maybe to make her smile. She'd seemed so excited about going - so down when he'd told her it would have to wait. And should he have waited so they could destroy the clinic? He still wasn't sure.

"Are you ready?" He knew almost where they were going - he was going to keep driving when they got there until stopping felt right.

"Oh yes. Like one of them Duke boys only way more awesome," Vi said with a heavy southern accent for effect and carefully pushed the sleeping back down into a big marshmallow like thing at her feet. Then she shifted enough to put her feet on the dashboard and her arms behind her head. Ah, comfortable.

"Absolutely. Wagons ho and all that happy horse stuff," she was bobbing her head along with the stereo now, ready to be done with the city. At least for one day.

"I don't have horses, but I have horsepower." And it had been a long time since he'd driven himself, really, but he hadn't forgotten how. The car moved out into New York City traffic, and slowly made it's way north.

"Radio?" All the cars had classic rock on the stations, but he'd changed the stations in this one when he'd left The Highway. He didn't want to be reminded today.

"Horsepower is just as well. I don't think we'd get very far on horses," she patted out a beat on her legs, totally into whatever it was she was playing. She had no idea what it was but it was fun.

"Gimme!" Vicodin reached out and quickly settled the radio on a station - 92.3 K-Rock. Franz Ferdinand was (were?) singing 'No You Girls' which she loved because it had such a catchy beat. If it were possible for someone to be dancing in their seat, Vi was definitely managing it quite well. She grinned at Tracer, "Did you ever know that you're my hero? You. Are the wind beneath my wings."

"I can fly higher than an eagle," Tracer deadpanned, and then laughed at himself at how serious he'd sounded, and turned to grin at her too.

It was already easier, being with her. Just being away from The Highway and the expectations, the fear and the anger and resentment there. Being with a sister - being with a happy sister who knew how to smile and how to dance and how to relax with him? It was already helping more than he'd thought it would.

"Oh big brother, as long as you take me with you, fly as high as you like," Vi giggled when he laughed because it just seemed to be the thing to do. Goodness how she had missed being with her siblings. It seemed like years since she'd just hung out with them...

It was definitely awesome just being in the car and going - she felt like a princess escaping an oppressive kingdom. Maybe she was. And maybe he was an escaping prince and this was a fairy tale with a happy ending of some crazy sort. Tracer could already be part of nature so Vi would just have to adjust and hide. It could so be done.

(OOC: If you want to fast-forward any part like the drive, we can. I'm not opposed. *takes a nap*)

He may have been a part of nature, but he hadn't felt like one recently. As they left the city, though, the radio blaring and him randomly singing along with the words he knew... he started to feel more and more like himself.

By the time they were in the woods toward Heroin's cabin, his smile wasn't forced at all. He went further than the cabin, though. Further than he and Mari had gone for their stream. And when he finally pulled the car to the side of the road with a 'Here we walk,' he felt like he was home again.

She really loved watching Tracer transform from tiny happy to really huge happy. Well, maybe not really huge but she felt like she was doing her job if he felt any real happiness at all. It was her calling to create euphoria. Happiness was peachy keen.

Once the car was parked, Vi was all about getting out and stretching her legs. Which she did without further ado, gathering up her sleeping bag as she did so, "Halloooo nature!" Vi giggled at the echo of her own voice, "Such a pleasure to meet you!"

"Meet? Meat it - " The meaning wouldn't be clear in his words, but he also didn't think it mattered. "It already knows you baby sister. Knows the heal of you, and the heel." And yes, he was feeling better already - the non-linear words that rolled out of him with a laugh were indication enough of that.

She was out of the car, and he locked it up after he got out a big back with a fluffy sleeping back and extra pillows. He wouldn't need it, he could sleep just as easily on roots and rocks. But she wasn't a little fungus like he was, creeping up the walls of tree trunks.

No, it really didn't. As long as Tracer was feeling good, whatever order the words came out in and how they came out didn't matter at all. "It may know me but I don't know it. I'm all synthetic, baby." Well, not technically and yet it was true. Hm. Vi had definitely confused herself just now.

She gave her brother a look, arching an eyebrow, "Oh honestly. Who's going to steal a car in the middle of the woods?" Unless they were worried about bears or something. Only she was a city girl so her mind went automatically to theft. Vicodin relieved him of one of the pillows then put her arm around his waist, "How far are we going?"
