Television couldn't sleep. He hadn't gotten much more than three hours of sleep any given night since the first of May. Renewals and cancellations had begun, and he was as temperamental as a pregnant woman. His people were all on edge about whether or not their favorite shows (or the shows they worked on, in some cases) would be brought back for the 09-10 season, and when so many of them were on edge that meant Television was on edge. It was seriously cutting into his sleep and productivity.
Instead of sitting down in front of his own television as he had most nights, tonight TV decided he was going to do something with his time. Might as well if he was awake, right? So when the clock flashed 1:00 AM at him TV rolled out of bed, threw on jeans and a sweater (where this unseasonable storm had come from, he had no clue), and headed out to see what the wee hours of the morning had to offer an unwilling insomniac like himself.
He knew there were plenty of clubs where the parties were still going strong, but the idea didn't appeal to him like it usually did. Tonight TV just wanted a quiet atmosphere where he could drink a few beers in peace. His quest led him to The Pony Bar, a fairly recent addition to the city's growing bar scene and home to over 20 American-brewed draft beers all at $5. Staking his claim on a stool at one end of the bar, Television ordered the first beer he could see on the "now serving" chalkboard. There were others in the bar, but it wasn't ridiculously crowded. It was just the kind of place he'd been looking for.
Four beers later and he was finally starting to feel like he might not be on the verge of cancelling everything just so he could get an uninterrupted night's rest.
