Current mood: | busy |
All that's left has gone away and theer's nothing there for you to do.
Who: Capitalism (laissez_faire) and Wall Street (upanddown)
What: Just another night at work.
Where: Vernand & Co. Headquarters, Manhattan, New York.
When: Friday night
Warnings: Funny business Wall Street's antics, I presume.
Ever since Wall Street decided to tag along with him on his business ventures, there had not been a single day of normalcy in the workplace. And while capitalism enjoyed the challenges that day-to-day existence with Wall Street had brought, sometimes he really just wanted to be left alone to do his own work.
He did not have to work, of course - but it was something he derived pleasure and satisfaction from. He was part of a system that was the very basic foundations of his being; in a way he was keeping himself going, and though running a stockbrokerage might not have been everyone's idea of a rewarding job, Capitalism enjoyed every moment of it.
In one of his rare moments of peace he had just finished the last e-mail that was awaiting a reply, and had moved on to paperwork. He had learnt to get as many things done as possible when he had time alone to himself - otherwise, at the rate he was getting interrupted by everyone, nothing would get done in the course of a day.
It was going to be 8pm soon. There were still numerous people going about their work in the office - mostly to deal with clients and other businesses with a time difference.
'Time really flies when one is having fun,' or so the saying went. 'Or very busy' should have also been tagged on the end, Capitalism thought.
He did not anticipate finishing work until at least another hour or two, depending on how many interruptions he was going to get, but these days he would consider himself lucky even getting home at half past ten at night.
