Who: Democratic Party and Glibt
What: Mark's missing!
When: Friday; late afternoon
Where: Mark's place
Warnings: TBD
Mark had been sprawled out on his bed, asleep for over twelve hours. It was only the beginning of what was supposed to be the very beginning of a long, long nap. He'd not intended it to be that way, but it was just a fact of life.
Mark never used his power. It was just a thing. He was 'the party of Big Government', but he was rather non-invasive, all things considered. He didn't use his influence to force people to do things, instead preferring to do the civil thing –the mortal thing— and talk things through. A good debate over the issues never hurt anyone and just like the mortals he surrounded himself with, he didn't always win. But that was how the American Government worked. He let it run and absorbed power as it came. The country went through cycles and he and Caridad were what the people wanted them to be. Right now, the people wanted him in charge. Mark considered that a privilege and one that wasn't supposed to be abused.
So swaying votes, in any direction, was out of character for him, but he'd done it. He'd done it to just put it out of his mind for good. If he did this one thing, then maybe he wouldn't think about it anymore. To some extent he'd been right. He'd swayed the votes in Connecticut, the votes had passed, and he'd been fine until the adrenaline had worn off as he sat in a seat on the MetroNorth He'd barely stumbled through the door of his apartment before passing out, fully clothed, on top of the sheets on his bed.
Work didn't concern him. Friends didn't bother him. He had no idea what was going on in the news or where President Obama was. In blissful sleep his mind was completely blank. He didn't know what it felt like to wield his power like that and he hadn't been prepared for the after effect. Whether he'd done something wrong, or had just used too much out of inexperience, Mark didn't know. He wouldn't know until he woke up… maybe in a few weeks.
