Adonis was nervous. The hangover from his plant's party was long gone but there were still minor bags under his eyes. Sleep had been difficult and except for one night where he hadn't remembered any of his dreams and woken up feeling like he hadn't slept at all, the nightmares came every single night. It was hard, hard to admit to himself that there was attraction to Myrrha, as sick as it was. Hard to watch College turn to the boar. Hard to feel the boar castrate him and tear him to pieces over and over again. Adonis had taken to booze again, yet again, but was surprisingly sober when the car came for him.
Dressed in simple jeans and a green button-up dress shirt, he had a small backpack slung over his shoulder with a few changes of clothes and the supplies for Theias, who was surprisingly well behaved on the trip as long as Adonis let the dog stick his head out the window. Smoking almost furiously the entire ride, Adonis was in utter turmoil. He hurt. He had hurt Jord. He had... betrayed her? Was what had happened a betrayal because he had liked it, enjoyed it, just as he had so many years ago?
Pushing those thoughts from his mind as the car pulled up to the cottage, he got out, blinking in the sun and grinning despite the pain. Theias bounded out behind him, running, jumping, snapping at a butterfly before Adonis murmured a quiet word of ancient Greek. Instantly, the dog fell in beside him as Adonis came up to the deck, trying to hide the pain in his eyes as he bent to kiss her hand. "Earth Mother." He greeted in a respectful murmur, nothing but love in his eyes and an attempt at dignity in his voice. It was ruined, however, when Theias tried to jump up at Jord, Adonis laughing. "Theias, down." He ordered and the dog complied, nuzzling at Jord's feet instead.
