Who: Jord and Adonis When: Thursday evening Where: Jord's lake cabin Warnings: Perhaps language, physical affection, who knows!
It had been awhile since she'd slept within the earth. So many nights Jord was content to curl up in her own bed, or not to sleep at all. But nights spent drinking herself into something that should have been oblivion were rare and therefore deserved special treatment; she had ended the evening by sinking down into the Earth in some dark, quiet part of Central Park, curling up in the roots of a tree, murmuring softly to it about Earth Day and fickle Spring and all the things she wasn't sure she even trusted herself to think. Wrapped in it's roots, it was mid day before she finally emerged, slightly rumpled but not nearly as hung over as she might have been; the tree was a kind sort, full of childish love for her. Jord left a blessing in it's trunk, carving the runes with a whisper touch, and made her way home.
It was mid afternoon before she thought to check her blackberry, discovering that Dana had left her a staggering amount of voicemails and text messages, all of which became increasingly frantic. At some point, Blake had been involved in this, and they both appeared to be dashing about in a frenzy, ready to alert their pitiful mortal organizations to her disappearance. Jord was annoyed, but called everyone and apologized profusely and promised that she just needed a few days off and everything would be fine. Upon hanging up, the goddess couldn't help but think that this small vacation was perfectly timed.
It would be....good. Good to spend time with Adonis, good to look in his eyes and try to ascertain something from them, anything at all. The antics of the previous night had only cemented in her mind that something needed to be done...but what? She wanted to destroy the person who had hurt him. She wanted to pull him away from this city until he could center himself. Until he could be the Adonis that she knew again. She wanted to know what had happened to the god who chased her down, who cried on his knees before her just to make sure that she wouldn't leave. She wanted to go back and change things, change things so that he was never hurt.
Mind heavy with these thoughts, the goddess packed her things into a car and sent it to Adonis along with a message that she would be waiting for him at the cabin. She only wanted to travel within the earth, away from the coughing, rumbling machines. Jord lingered among the dirt and the roots, but still he had not arrived when she emerged from the ground near the cabin, and the goddess was relieved. Slipping into a pair of soft wrap pants and a tank top, the goddess made some tea, slipping out to the deck to watch the water, to think, to wait.
