With Iris suddenly in his arms, Zephyrus didn't waste a moment of it, immediately folding his arms around her, burying his face into her hair and inhaling her sweet smell. Even though he could hear her cry against him, a truly soul-shattering sad sound, Zephyrus could endure it only because she was here again, with him. In his arms, her soft hair brushing against his cheek and her warmth felt right underneath his fingertips.
He deserved that hit to the chest, he really did. Zephyrus only wondered why it was that she didn't do anything further, there was more she was entitled to, but this was Iris. Sweet, smiling, laughing, Iris. His Iris, his wife.
"I wouldn't leave you for good, I couldn't." His lips brushed against her cheek, taking some of the salty residue that was her tears. Blue eyes once again gazed into Iris' own windows to her soul, willing her to understand that he returned her affections. It was just the nature of wind that differed them from each other. "I can't stay in one place, Iris. You know that. I'd probably kill myself or go crazy if I did. Start trouble and the like." His arms still held her close, especially when what he meant by "trouble" he meant other women. But those were the old times and the past, and now, it was like starting anew again.
"Like I said, I'll always come back. Just like I did before. And now." Once more, his fingers brushed away her hair from her face, gently wiping away the tracks of moisture down her cheeks, to repair the damage. "I wouldn't have if I didn't love you."
While harsh words and profanities would spill out of his mouth to any stranger or family alike, Zephyrus only saved such talk for that which he truly cared about, and right now it was this beautiful goddess in his arms that still had a firm hold on his heart.
