Triton would be amused, almost, if he wasn’t already taken up with weariness of the whole thing. There was no doubt Hana Sato was intelligent and clever, but these were qualities he found he couldn’t appreciate in her. Rare was the person he couldn’t tolerate, or at least treat with a distant politeness. He also wasn’t about to be made to feel guilty. He was sure of himself, and it would take someone much, much closer to him to start him having second thoughts about his conduct.
