Who: Divorce (itsnotyouitsme), Advertising (lapresse).
What: Asking for some valuable advice. Preferably free.
Where: Advertising's workplace.
When: Tuesday morning.
Rating: Inevitable innuendo.
She'd first tried to get his attention through the God Blogs, but to no avail. Pinning "Rick" down by phone had been equally difficult -- the man bounced around like a pinball. In the end, she'd resorted to tried and true tactics, sending a pair of panties up to his office in a carefully wrapped mailer addressed directly to him. The note attached requested Advertising's presence. And mentioned that oh, by the way, she was waiting for him in the lobby.
Divorce stood patiently at the receptionist's desk, quiet and smiling while she listened to a small knot of office ladies discussing their boyfriends and husbands, all ex. She nodded, clucked and cooed over each as they traded stories. Ms. Libera assured every one of them that they were better off. Single life, she assured them, was so much more satisfying as an independent person rather than one half of a tied-down couple.
Oh, but she loved women's lib.
It was a pleasant enough way to watch time pass. A few of them had read her books, two were familiar with her blog, and towards the end of their discussion Divorce had assured each woman that they'd receive a signed copy of her latest book once it had hit the streets. If she could finagle it, maybe even an advance copy. By the time Advertising made his way out to the lobby, he'd find more than half of the floor's female staff surrounding Divorce. Dark hair swept back and makeup artfully applied, the goddess herself practically glowed with attention and power alike.
