Punishing, her? That's never been what she was about. Does he not know her better than that by now? She would hope that he does.
She shakes her head when he says that he can look past it, as he tries to justify it, make it sound like it wasn't what it was. She took a deep breath, paused and wrapped her arms around herself.
She fully believes that exposing someone you loved like that, in front of his children no less, and .. being smug, gloating about it, was NOT the mark of a caring individual. It wasn't a careless mistake, it was.. manipulative, it was intentional, it was deceitful and it was wrong.
"Mistakes, Ares? How many times then have you overlooked little 'mistakes' like that from her? How many times have you.. given her the benefit of the doubt when she's wronged you? How many times have you convinced yourself she didn't mean to hurt you?"
She looks up, "I'm not buying it. The way she reacted to me saying something to her about it was proof enough. It's your life, I can't Make you see that it's worth more than you're being given. I can't force you."
"You aren't choosing between me and her, Ares. I wish.. I.. could go back to being happy for you, being glad your beloved was here with you now. I can't. Even still, I.. I wouldn't make you choose between me and her. You've loved her for centuries, you've known me for weeks. That's why I told you to go, because I know.. what you will choose."
She dips her head softly and gives it a little shake. "I don't want you to choose me though, or her, I want you to choose... You." The door handle is pulled and she steps out of the car.
"I'm here, I'll always be here, think about it, let me know what you decide."
