Who: The Drug Gods and close friends
What: A movie marathon with the drug family.
Where: Heroin's apartment
When: Sunday evening
The apartment was spotless. Heroin had been on a cleaning kick ever since returning home from the spa. And whether that had anything to do with discovering Maria’s list or anxiety over Cocaine or worry for Marijuana was anyone’s guess. He certainly wasn’t thinking too hard about what had prompted him to spend the pre-dawn hours of Sunday morning cleaning the grout in the bathroom with a toothbrush. Instead, he took a moment to enjoy the pristine sanctuary of his home. The white couch was half-buried under a cascade of pillows, still artfully arranged and in shades of gray. He’d also tossed larger, periwinkle pillows onto the floor for anyone who preferred to stretch out on the ground. All that was left was arranging the food and for his family to arrive.
Heroin flicked the stereo on as he entered the kitchen. The opening chords of Papa Roach’s “I Almost Told You That I Loved You,” sent a pleasant shiver through Heroin. He nodded his head in time to the drum beat as he transferred the marijuana shaped cookies from the baking sheet to a cooling rack. In the background he had the music blaring loud enough to be heard out in the hallway. The door had been left open for ease of traffic. A blue-gray dragon, swallowing its tail pasted to the door to let everyone know they were in the right place.
Heroin sighed and sung along as he brought three bowls of steaming popcorn, butter, cheese and caramel to set on the glass coffee table in his living room. “You know I love it when you’re down on your knees. And I’m a junkie for the ways that you please. You shut me up when you swallow me down. My back to the wall, you’re going to town.” Jacoby’s voice had been everything tempting and delicious and forbidden while making Metamorphosis and Heroin was feeling just a tiny bit proud of the finished product.
